Liliana Trilogy Cover Reveal

The third and final instalment in the Liliana Trilogy is finally on its way. With the help of the fabulous designer, Rachel Bostwick, I’m so excited to reveal the title and cover of the third book in the trilogy, Eternity Begins.

I had an idea in mind for Eternity Begins, and so I sent the below sketch to Rachel. It’s fair to say, she transformed it into something beautiful!

Liliana Frye is a Custos – an immortal being with superhuman powers. It’s a life that many would love to have, and yet Liliana’s hasn’t been easy. Her powers are greatly desired by Duana, a Custos whose main aim is to steal as many powers as she can to become the greatest of all.

The Book of Custos contains the information that Duana needs to take the powers, but she doesn’t have it. Liliana’s family have the book. Duana has Liliana, along with hundreds of Custos in her crystal ball prisons. It’s only a matter of time before she figures out the ritual, and puts everyone’s lives in danger.

The action-packed final instalment of the Liliana Trilogy will keep you hooked until the very last page.

Proofreading Services for Indie Authors

Proofreading Services - Lauren Mayhew AuthorAs a self-published author myself, I know how hard it is to proofread your own work. You’ll never find all of the typos, as you know exactly what the sentence is supposed to say, and your brain skips past the errors automatically. I think a certain degree of errors are expected in self-published works, because not all of us can afford to pay a high-end proofreader, or two, to look over our books. But, you should never hit the publish button without having at least one person read through it.  Continue reading “Proofreading Services for Indie Authors”

50,000 Words in 50 Days – Update 3

As you can see from the picture on the left, I completed my 50,000 words in 50 days challenge! I’m feeling very proud of myself right now, as this book just did not want to be written.

If you’ve followed my previous blogs about writing the Liliana trilogy, you’ll know that I really struggled to write the second book. It took me 18 months – yes that’s right – 18 long, long months. Because of this, I sort of fell out of love with writing this series, and I had no motivation whatsoever to write the third one. With a challenge like this one, I had no choice but to write it.

Obviously, it’s nowhere near finished. It’s probably the worst draft I’ve ever written, but that’s the whole point of doing a challenge like this. It’s quantity, not quality. You put the quality in during draft 2 and the edits! Continue reading “50,000 Words in 50 Days – Update 3”

I FINISHED WRITING BOOK 2!!!

Lauren Mayhew NotebooksSo, in case the title didn’t give it away… I FINALLY FINISHED WRITING BOOK 2 – Mourning Memories.

It has taken me 18 months, yes, that’s a year and a half, to finish writing it. It’s been a hard one.

I completely struggled with a re-write at 20,000 words and just couldn’t get back into writing it after that. But on Friday, I made the decision that I was going to spend the whole weekend writing it.

It did take me the whole weekend too. I was locked in my room, hunched over my notebook, determined. I’m so happy and a little bit relieved that it’s finally completed. Now I just need to type it up and edit it.

I’m pretty sure it’s not long enough at the moment, but I already know a few scenes that need to be added in, so the word count should be very similar to ‘Reality is in a Dream’.

As I have changed the cover for my first book, I need to think up a new idea for my second cover and I already have a few ideas about that. Hopefully I can show you all something in the near future.

Reality is in a Dream – All in one Place

You may have noticed with my last posts that I have gradually put my book, ‘Reality is in a Dream’, on more selling platforms. All of the links can be found on my website here, but not many people would know to look there, so I am going to put the links in this post too!

All you have to do is click the purple, italic writing and you will be taken to each website. If you don’t know what my book is about, you can read Chapter 1 here. Also, I’m a Goodreads author, so if you want to add me as a friend on there I’m more than happy to accept all requests!

OK, here we go: Paperback UK  –  UK Kindle  –  Paperback US  –  US Kindle
