Now that I’m no longer directing a play for my theatre group (which went really well), or writing blogs for the A-Z Challenge, I actually have a spare minute or two to go over Cycles of War (Working Title), my current WIP. You can catch up on all of my A-Z blogs here. If you haven’t read about Cycles of War yet, go here and here to see why it’s taking me so long to do anything and what I was up to last time I stopped procrastinating.
So, since my last post, I have managed to change the names of all the ships and I’ve even attempted to make them relevant to the country that the ships originated from. I don’t want to specify which countries are involved though. With this book it’s way too easy to offend people, so I’m avoiding being too specific, but a few vague hints are good enough. I’d love to know people’s thoughts when I finally finish it. I’ve also managed to change the majority of the names of the characters too, which I’m very happy about. I needed to get that done before I carried on with anything else. Continue reading “My Current WIP – Update 1”
Although I haven’t done a lot of writing on Cycles of War recently (read about it here), I have been working on it in a different sense. After picking out the most obvious grammatical errors, I decided to work on the characters. I created an excel spreadsheet for this – I really do love a good spreadsheet – that detailed the characters original name, job, physical description, which county they’re from etc. Not only will this make my life a lot easier when I properly start working on the book again, it’s been quite therapeutic too.
I suffer from the usual author syndrome of ‘forgetting what my characters look like’. I’m not even joking. In one of the first editions of my first book, Reality is in a Dream, Samson’s hair colour changed mid-way through the book. He was always blond in my head, so I don’t know why he then became brown haired at one point. Having a spreadsheet to reference all of this will stop mistakes like this from occurring, I hope! I’ve been MIA on this blog for quite a while. Life kind of took over, and even though I no longer work full time, I seem to have less spare time than I did before. I hope to be able to write more posts here in the future, but I can’t guarantee any regular postings. It literally depends on how interesting my life gets over the next few months.
My excuse for not posting anything in November, is that I’ve been participating in National Novel Writing Month, NaNoWriMo for short. The aim of this challenge is to write 50,000 words in 30 days, that’s an average of 1667 words per day. I’ve struggled to write that many words this whole year, let alone one day. You can read more about NaNoWriMo here. Continue reading “My NaNoWriMo Experience”
United As One – Pittacus Lore – 5 Stars
Blurb: The Mogadorian invasion has come to Earth, and they have all but won the battle for our planet. Their warships loom over our most populous cities – like New York City, Tokyo, Moscow, Beijing, and New Delhi – and no army will risk making a move against them. The Garde are all that stand in their way . . . but they are no longer alone in this fight. Human teens from across the globe, like John Smith’s best friend, Sam Goode, have begun to develop Legacies of their own.
The Garde have always known there is power in numbers. If they can find these new allies and join forces with them, they just might be able to win this war. The time has come for the Garde to make their final stand.
This is the last in the series of the Lorien Legacies, and I’m not 100% sure I’m ready for it to be over. Part of me was so excited to get my hands on this book, and the other part of me is quite sad. This was the last book series I’ve been waiting to complete, so it’s like the end of Harry Potter all over again. Excuse me while I go cry in the corner…

The Fate of Ten – Pittacus Lore – 5 Stars
Blurb: For years the Garde have fought the Mogadorians in secret. Now all of that has changed. The invasion has begun. If the Garde can’t find a way to stop the Mogs, humanity will suffer the same fate as the Lorien: annihilation.
There is still hope. When the Elders sent the Garde to Earth, they had a plan-one which the Garde are finally starting to understand. In the climax of The Revenge of Seven, a group of the Garde traveled to an ancient pyramid in Mexico known to their people as the Sanctuary. There they awoke a power that had been hidden within our planet for generations. Now this power can save the world . . . or destroy it. It will all depend on who wields it.
I cannot even begin to explain how much I love these books! As far as I can remember, I have been reading them since the first one – I am Number Four – came out, so I’ve had a lot of patient waiting to do. And guess what… It’s still not finished! Continue reading “The Fate of Ten – Pittacus Lore”
