Nasty Girl

Nasty Girl by Notorious B.I.GThe number 1 song this time 10 years ago was Nasty Girl by the The Notorious B.I.G.

This is another one that I’ve never heard before. At this point in my life, I think that I was still listening to Busted.

Nasty Girl: I’ve met a few nasty girls in my time but one who stands out above the rest is a girl I went to Infant School with. I won’t name her because that’s unfair and for all I know she might be a changed person – I highly doubt that though.

This girl used to bully me. I was a chubby child and she enjoyed teasing me about my weight. Every. Single. Day. Continue reading

When the Sun Goes Down

The number 1 song this time 10 years ago was When the Sun Goes Down by the Arctic Monkeys.

I can honestly say that I’ve never heard this song before. I’m not a fan of the Arctic Monkeys, but I may give this song a listen one day…When the sun goes down by the arctic monkeys

When the Sun Goes Down: I don’t think I’ve ever properly watched the sun go down, but if I were to watch it, I’d like it to be by the coast somewhere. I can just imagine how beautiful that would look on the horizon over the sea.

Another little thing – I really am quite boring. When the sun goes down, I’m usually in bed, fast asleep. I’m not one to go out after dark. I’d rather be snuggled in my duvet, reading a good book.

That’s My Goal

The number 1 song this time 10 years ago was That’s My Goal by Shayne Ward.that27s_my_goal

That’s My Goal: My goal in life is to be successful in whatever I do. If you’re familiar with my blog then you will know about my book. I would love for that to be as successful as possible!

I recently updated the cover of ‘Reality is in a Dream’ and am re-publishing it with Createspace. I got the proof copy yesterday, so now all I have to do is read through it and make sure that everything is perfect!

So basically, being successful – That’s My Goal.

Where Did the Good Music Go?

This whole writing stories about me was supposed to be regular every week or every time there was a new number 1 single.

Not only have I been ridiculously busy recently, the Number 1’s have been shocking!

Westlife – You Raise me Up. Although it is a good song, I have no idea what to write about.

Madonna – Hung Up. I don’t particularly like Madonna and that song is just.. No.

Pussycat Dolls – Stickwitu. I think the title says it all.

Nizlopi – JCB. All I can think of is Jamie Campbell Bower. I’m going to see him and his band on Friday. Maybe I’ll write a little something about that after Friday. Who knows.

Basically, this is an apology along with big excuses. I’ll try and update my blog better next year!

Until the next time,

I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor

I bet you Look Good on the Dancefloor by Arctiv Monkeys - Lauren Mayhew AuthorThe number 1 song this time 10 years ago was I bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor by the Arctic Monkeys.

I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor: No one has ever told me I look bad when I’m dancing, so I suppose that’s a good thing. I really love to dance, but not to club music. It’s not very easy to dance to a dull, monotonous beat. I prefer proper songs from an iPod, not the remix club versions.

When I was at school, I took part in the production of High School Musical. We did a rehearsal once, and I remember one of the teacher’s watching came up to me at the end and said that I really ‘lit up’ when I was performing. That was a very big compliment for me, as I was a very shy person back in school. It was nice of her to single me out and tell me that I was doing well!

Push the Button

Push the Button by the Sugababes - Lauren Mayhew AuthorI’ve decided to do this new thing where I will tell you more about me. I’m rubbish at telling people about myself, so I’m going to use prompts to try and tell you quirky facts about me.

To do this I am going to use song titles, but not just any old song title – the Number 1 single from 10 years ago. Technically, I’d love to do this from 25 years ago, but I don’t know as many of those songs.

Obviously, if a song is at Number 1 for more than one week, I may not write something about myself every week. Unless it’s an amazing title! Some of these stories about me may be very short and others relatively long. It depends what I have to tell you all.
