Synopsis: Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artefacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
There really isn’t a lot I can say about Avengers: Infinity War without giving away too much of the plot, so this could be the shortest review I’ve ever written. All I can really say is that this is one film you don’t want to miss.
The film has similar jokes to Thor: Ragnarok which made it a huge success for me. The humour is silly and sometimes slapstick – which I don’t usually like – but this film gets away with it. It follows on almost instantly from the latest Thor film, so if you haven’t seen that, you may be slightly confused. You can, however, get away with not having watched Captain America: Civil War. The Civil War is mentioned to Bruce Banner and there is some mention of the Accords, but not enough to confuse someone.
There is a big element of shock in this film – some of it within the first 10 minutes, so be prepared for that. I also wasn’t expecting it to end in the way that it did. As there is a second film, we all knew that it wasn’t going to end happily, but to have my heart torn out was not something that I was expecting. All shall be well though, I hope! Otherwise there are going to be many, many angry people.
One of my favourite Avengers was missing from the film, though they are mentioned at one point. I hope to see them in the next one, even if it is only a brief appearance.
It’s a film full of action, wit and sadness. If you’ve loved the films before this, then you have to see Avengers: Infinity War. AND don’t forget to wait for the after-credit scene. It’s a long wait, but it leads into one of the next movies.
Well, that was short and sweet.
Until the next time,
