3am by Busted was released way back in 2003. I would have been 11 years old. That was back in the days that I absolutely loved Busted but refused to listen to McFly. I thought McFly were copy cats, never having realised that Tom from McFly worked closely with James from Busted to create albums for both bands. I was young. I didn’t realise that I could love both bands at the same time. I’m so glad I changed my mind though. This challenge would have looked a lot different without McFly to fill in a few of the gaps.
There’s something quite simple about 3am that I absolutely love. It’s a very repetitive song with regards to lyrics and melody, but it doesn’t make it boring like with some other songs. It’s another breakup song, like the majority of songs I’ve written about in this challenge. However, it’s a song with some hope in it too. I like to think that the couple got back together again. That’s if the girl’s car didn’t break down before she got to speak to her boyfriend. I think I also love the power in Matt’s voice here. There’s so much passion, it’s hard not to like the song. You can see the video for 3am at the bottom of the post.
You say that you need some time
How long does it take to see
That we are more than meant to be?
I’ve really struggled to pick out my favourite lyrics to 3am. The song as a whole is fantastic, so I’ve chosen the lines that I enjoy listening to the most. We all have a favourite part to a song, and if we miss it, we have to play the whole thing again, just to hear it. You know what I mean, right? Well, this is one of those bits. Except for the shouty ‘Oooohs’ from Matt, but I couldn’t just use ‘Ooooh’ as a lyric quote. It’s all about the power in the voice for the above lines. You’ve probably noticed by now that I love powerful singers. I think 3am might be my favourite Busted song ever.
As there were no songs in the ‘X’ category, I’m just going to list a few other Busted songs that I love. All of these are from their first two albums and don’t include any new music or their work with McBusted. I still haven’t bought Busted’s new album. I will though, I promise! Click the purple text to be taken to videos: Sleeping With the Light On, Who’s David, Britney, Over Now. Britney may sound strange, but it’s an epic song! I’m gonna buy Busted’s third album, Night Driver, as soon as I get paid.
Until the next time,

A few fun facts: Of the 1,199 songs on my iPod – I know, feeble compared to some – there have been a total of 16,039 plays. This equates to an average of 13.4 plays per song. If each song is an average of 3 minutes long, this means that I have spent approximately 801.95 hours listening to the music on my iPod or 33.4 days. This doesn’t include the many times that I have watched and re-watched music videos or the time before the iPod. I can guarantee things would look a little different if I could get the data from my MP3 Player or Windows Media Player days.
