Kickstarts by The Wanted – 52 Plays – 20 ‘K’ Songs in Total
We managed to get through three days without a song by The Wanted popping up. I really am starting to realise how big my obsession with them became. I hope you’re not getting bored of seeing the same names over and over again! Anyway, Kickstarts isn’t an original song by The Wanted, it’s another cover. Example was the first artist to sing the song, but the version by The Wanted was the first time that I actually heard it. As with the previous songs by this band, I would have first heard Kickstarts within the first few days of them singing it on their YouTube channel, the video for this at the bottom of the blog.
Again, it’s not exactly my love for the song, it’s more my love for the band. You’ll see from the video how silly they all are. They really didn’t take much seriously when they were making videos for their channel and it made them that much more lovable to me. I’m not sure which version of this song I have. There’s a chance it came from a CD, or that I downloaded it from iTunes, but it could also have come from YouTube. It’s just one of those songs that have been on my iPod for so long, I’ve literally forgotten how it got there.
Start to think it could be fizzling out
Kinda shocked because I never really had any doubts
Look into your eyes, imagine life without ya
And the love kickstarts again
The lyrics above have always been my favourite lyrics in Kickstarts, but this time it’s not because my favourite member of the band is singing. The lyrics talk about how you might be thinking that a relationship is ending, but then there’s one moment, a little spark, that ignites everything again. Having been seriously unlucky in love, I can only say that I’ve had this experience with friendships. Occasionally there’s a moment where I think that a friendship might be losing its fun, but then one little thing happens that completely changes my mind. It could just be a smile or a laugh, but it’s enough to make me realise how much I treasure my friendship with that person.
I have three different versions of King by Years and Years in the top ten. Added together, they still wouldn’t have reached the top spot, but it would have been close. I heard King for the first time on the radio and I loved it. It’s such a beautiful song. Have a listen here. Second on the list was Killing Me Softly With His Song by the Fugees. I could honestly listen to this version of the song on repeat for days. Lauryn Hill’s voice is so soulful and powerful. I must listen to more of her music. Official video here.
Until the next time,

A few fun facts: Of the 1,199 songs on my iPod – I know, feeble compared to some – there have been a total of 16,039 plays. This equates to an average of 13.4 plays per song. If each song is an average of 3 minutes long, this means that I have spent approximately 801.95 hours listening to the music on my iPod or 33.4 days. This doesn’t include the many times that I have watched and re-watched music videos or the time before the iPod. I can guarantee things would look a little different if I could get the data from my MP3 Player, or Windows Media Player days.
