United As One – Pittacus Lore

United as One by Pittacus Lore - Lauren MayhewUnited As One – Pittacus Lore – 5 Stars

Blurb: The Mogadorian invasion has come to Earth, and they have all but won the battle for our planet. Their warships loom over our most populous cities – like New York City, Tokyo, Moscow, Beijing, and New Delhi – and no army will risk making a move against them. The Garde are all that stand in their way . . . but they are no longer alone in this fight. Human teens from across the globe, like John Smith’s best friend, Sam Goode, have begun to develop Legacies of their own.

The Garde have always known there is power in numbers. If they can find these new allies and join forces with them, they just might be able to win this war. The time has come for the Garde to make their final stand.

This is the last in the series of the Lorien Legacies, and I’m not 100% sure I’m ready for it to be over. Part of me was so excited to get my hands on this book, and the other part of me is quite sad. This was the last book series I’ve been waiting to complete, so it’s like the end of Harry Potter all over again. Excuse me while I go cry in the corner…

I was nervous the whole way through this book – terrified that someone I loved was going to die. (I won’t spoil anything in case you want to read it.) I managed to read it within a couple of days and I think this was influenced by the fear. I needed to know who was going to survive.

John changed in this book, understandably, and it was a change that needed to happen. There was no way he could have faced and attempted to defeat Setrakus Ra with the same attitude he had in previous books. He needed to be a little reckless, and it made for great reading.

Although the beginning of the book could have been seen as a little slow, I think I was just enjoying the fact that this was the last time I was going to read these characters for the first time – that makes sense, doesn’t it? Even though I’ll start reading from the beginning again one day, I’ll already know the fate of each character. Re-reading a book never has the same energy as it did when you first read it, though I’ll still enjoy reading them!

I do think the final battle could have been a bit more spectacular. But saying that, the ending of The Fate of Ten was so epic, I’m not sure ‘Pittacus Lore’ could have made this one any better. The more I write about these books, the more I want to start reading them all over again!!!

I very much appreciated the final chapter of United As One. Everything was tied up, and I wasn’t left with any unanswered questions. I would have been very angry if I hadn’t found out what everyone was up to after the battle. There’s nothing worse than a book that ends with no further explanations.

As I said earlier, this was the last series of books that I’m waiting on, so if anyone could suggest a book series to me, my ears are open!
