Tyrion Lannister is one of the few surviving characters of ‘Game of Thrones‘ that we were introduced to in Series 1. He is the only Lannister that I actually like, except for Jaime who sort of turned himself around towards the end of Series 4.
Just so you know now, I’m very behind and still haven’t watched Series 5, so no spoilers please!!!
Tyrion is an outcast in his family. His sister despises him, but she is a bitter woman anyway. His father seems to be embarrassed to call him a son and no one is willing to listen to him. Except Jaime who really does appear to look upon his little brother quite fondly.
He deals with all of this by drinking, mainly, and doing everything he can to annoy his father. Like most kids really! He knows what winds his father up, so he makes sure to do it, though that does get him into a lot of trouble.
What I love most about Tryion is his sense of humour. He’s very dry and sarcastic and his character lightens the mood of the dark show, which is a welcome break from the amount of gory murders. I think Peter Dinklage plays the character very well, and I wouldn’t want to see any other actor play the part.
I also love how cunning he is, but hate how he’s not appreciated for it. He played a massive part in the battle at King’s Landing and without him the city would undoubtedly have been taken. And yet, the praise goes to someone else, no one so much as thinks of thanking him for his efforts.
All I can say is that I hope Tyrion sees the Game of Thrones until the end. You never know, it might be him sitting on that throne.
