P – Pocahontas

Pocahontas - Lauren Mayhew A-Z Blog Challenge 2016A-Z Blog Challenge 2016 – Pocahontas

I really struggled with the letter ‘P’, and it’s the same for ‘Q’ tomorrow, so I may not have a lot to say over the next few days – sorry about that!

Pocahontas is one of those films that I love, so as a sort of cheat, I’m going to talk about my favourite part of the film – the song ‘Colours of the Wind’.

If you didn’t know the context behind the song and read the lyrics, you would probably think it was political. And thinking about it now, it’s very relevant to the events that are going on around the world right now.

One of my favourite lines from this song is: “You can own the earth and still, all you’ll own is earth until…” If you don’t appreciate the earth and every living creature that lives on it, what’s the point in trying to own it?

I could literally talk about this song forever, but I’ve already deviated from my theme quite a bit. Maybe I’ll write more about my favourite songs on a regular blogging day.

If you’ve never heard ‘Colours of the Wind’, have a listen below. Let me know what you think.

Until the next time,
Lauren x
